Fall 2018 Books I have enjoyed so far!

We have discussed before how many books we all read and listen
to.
Right now I am listening thru Libro.fm  ,
Markus Zusak's new book Bridge of Clay.  Markus reads it and I LOVE his voice. Clay is one of the tough Dunbar boys, whose mother is dead and his father is called the Murdered. Yep, you want to read or listen to this book. We do have autographed copies in both stores.

I also listened to Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. Cassandra Campbells voice fits perfectly the setting of the Marshes of North Carolina. I did not want the story to end of Kya, her dysfunctional family, her friendships in town, her love of the marsh,  birds and all wildlife. I can't recommend it highly enough. Remember if you like to listen to audio books like we do, you can sign up for a monthly membership and your first month is FREE! Or for non membership audios use LBB20 for 20% off.

French Exit by Patrick deWitt is just a straight up, a fun read. The husband/father dies and the mother and her grown up son, (who lives with her) move with their cat , Little Frank to Paris given they're broke! I'm chuckling just writing this.

Leif Enger was just in Poulsbo for a West Sound Reads Event. His new book Virgil Wander, is one of my favorite reads for all of 2018. Virgil has an  car accident, ending up in Lake Superior! His small town friends, come to his aid.  I just loved this small town with it's quirky residents. I really think you all will LOVE this book too! We do have autographed copies.

To start the Fall off, I read Circe by Madeline Miller.  Fabulous Read! A Greek mythology story with Circe, the banished daughter of Zeus, in the lead, who becomes a strong female God.  Many of the Gods, visit her on her Island, while she hones her skills survival.  I will read this book again I loved it so much!

We appreciate you pre ordering your upcoming favorite reads this Fall with us!  Thank you so much for shopping small and local with us in Bremerton and Poulsbo !

Real life issues with a fantasy element of Aliens! We will include an enamel pin (of what not sure, maybe of The Carls) with your purchase!

On sale, October 2nd 2018 is The Fifth Risk: Undoing Democracy by Michael Lewis, We will have signed copies. His books are always enlightening and so thought provoking especially during these difficult times.

Where does the time go?

I have been really remiss in posting here about books I have read, and what books the booksellers at both stores of Liberty Bay Books have been enjoying so far in 2018. I will say both Madison and I listen to a book a week on Libro.fm. I love having a story told to me. A mystery I enjoyed listening to recently was Star of the North by D.B John. It's a thriller involving North Korea. I also enjoyed The Power by Naomi Alderman, Girl Power by electrical current! gone  a tad astray.  A fabulous historical read, which did make me so mad is Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann. Bad US history that I didn't know anything about. So well written, but disturbing  to learn about this historical period of time in Oklahoma.  A book both Madison and I enjoyed is Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. Two families broken apart by secrets, lies... and so much more.

A fabulous Young Adult- Fantasy book is Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi and read by Bahni Turpin. A Fabulous voice along with a great story. So glad this is book one, Legacy of Orisha.  I cannot wait to continue the story of Zelie, a Prince and Princess.  Great cover as well. It is in the running for Jimmy Fallon's  2018 Summer Book Club read.  Yes I voted for this book.
It is almost the end of June which is Audio Book Month. You have the link to Libro.fm, if you sign up for a monthly membership in June, your first month is FREE! If you want to try a book to see if you like listening as much as we do, use the coupon code LBB20 and find a book on the playlist, Great Audio Books on Sale  We appreciate you listening and reading with us at our locations in Bremerton, Poulsbo and online.
